OUR HISTORY

Cherry Valley Gardens has been a family owned greenhouse since 1992. The Leep family moved to Middleville and built Cherry Valley Greenhouse in 1992. The greenhouse business was nothing new to Cherry Valley Greenhouse founder, Tim Leep. He partnered with his uncle, Foss Bishop, in 1975 and founded Bishop and Leep Greenhouse in Martin, MI. It had previously been J.A. Bishop Greenhouse since the 1930’s. That is a lot of years of family plant growing experience! In 1980, Uncle Foss retired and Tim partnered with his brother Jack to form Leep Brothers Greenhouse.

In 1992, Tim moved to Middleville and founded Cherry Valley Greenhouse with his wife, Karen Leep. It started as primarily a wholesale greenhouse, growing flower and vegetable plants and shipping them around the country. At that time, they opened the front doors as a small retail location, but had no idea what was in store for their small store! As the area grew and word began to spread about our large selection and excellent quality, our retail continued to expand. They moved on from supplying big box stores and decided to sell directly to the local community! In January 2018, Tim and Karen were ready for a semi-retired lifestyle and sold the greenhouse to their daughter, Liz, and her husband, Brian Hansson. It then became Cherry Valley Gardens, Inc.

Liz’s passion for the greenhouse business began as a very young child sweeping the greenhouse floors. She loves plants and carrying on the long family tradition of helping people grow beautiful gardens and landscapes. The family prides themselves in being very hands on, working sun-up to sundown to bring you the best product possible.

Come visit us and please do not hesitate to ask for assistance - we love passing on our extensive plant knowledge. We hope to see you soon!
